Private Windows AI assistant
A floating Windows AI assistant that stays above your work and outside compatible screen shares, Alt+Tab and the taskbar.
Shadow runs quietly in the background on Windows. It turns permitted audio into text and uses approved company knowledge to answer questions in context—without pulling you away from the application already in front of you.
Use push-to-talk or approved continuous listening. A clear microphone indicator stays visible whenever capture is active.
Keep concise answers above the application you are using, without adding another full workspace or taskbar item.
When company policy permits, Shadow requests that compatible Windows capture tools exclude its overlay while it remains visible locally.
Manage authorised users, roles, listening modes, usage limits and transcript-retention rules from company policy.
Retrieve relevant passages from approved internal sources before the configured AI model composes its response.
A Windows Service handles policy and provider access while a lightweight companion owns capture status and the overlay.
Shadow separates user interaction from protected processing. Audio is captured with consent, converted to text, enriched with approved context and passed to the configured model. Only the concise response returns to the floating window.
Shadow is built for authorised teams. Your company decides when capture is permitted, which knowledge sources and providers may be used, and how long transcripts are retained.
Nothing from Shadow. On compatible screen-sharing methods, the floating window remains visible only to you.
No. The floating assistant window stays out of Alt+Tab, so it does not interrupt app switching.
No. The floating assistant does not add a taskbar button.
Yes. The compact answer window stays above your active application, so you can read it without changing windows.
Yes. You can hide it from the companion controls and show it again when needed.
Yes. Shadow can remain available on your desktop while compatible capture privacy keeps it outside the shared view.
Audio is processed in memory and is not permanently stored by default. Administrators set transcript-retention and deletion rules separately. Audit logs contain operational metadata, not transcript or audio content.
The background service and signed-in user companion communicate through a Windows-authenticated, signed and encrypted local channel. Provider credentials remain in the service.
Role-based access, permitted listening modes, capture privacy, provider selection, usage limits, transcript retention and overlay availability can all follow company policy.
